CACHALOT is a post-metal band from Caen (Normandy), born as a side project of the members of the stoner/sludge band BEAR BRAWLER. Influenced by King Crimson, Neurosis, and Baroness, CACHALOT’s music oscillates between progressive rock with psychedelic accents, rich in melody and vocal harmonies, and uncompromising doom-metal, dark and fatalistic. CACHALOT’s introspective lyrics tackle themes such as mental illness, loneliness, and self-destruction.

After a series of concerts between 2015 and 2018 and the release of ‘CELEBRATION’ in 2016, CACHALOT released a second self-produced album, ‘MERCURIAL’ in October 2024. Musically diverse and intentionally disjointed, MERCURIAL evokes the chaotic mental journey of a person suffering from psychiatric disorders.
